An example of our work on financial and resource management is the financial diagnostic we undertook of the London Probation service. The diagnostic examined a number of areas including:

  • the robustness of the savings plan to achieve a balanced budget;
  • the methodology adopted for forecasting out-turn during the financial year and its reliability;
  • the key cost drivers and how they compared to other probation areas; and
  • the funding policy for London Probation and how it related to need
