- We believe in the power of top-quality advice – advice that is characterised by deep expertise, rigour, creativity, independence and commitment to the success of our clients.
- Our advice will be provided by highly experienced people – the majority having extensive track records at senior level in government organisations and in consultancies serving government clients.
- We will create a strong intellectual and professional community – which is in turn well networked with thinktanks and academic institutions around the government and public policy world – for our advisers to inhabit, allowing each individual to draw on a wider collective capability when providing advice.
- We will run a different type of business to traditional consulting firms – built around small-scale engagements, aiming never to grow beyond around 30 people and with a maximum of three levels of seniority – thereby allowing our advisers to be unencumbered by sales targets, promotion goals and pools of junior staff in need of deployment.
- We want a world in which clients spend less on advice – so we commit to low prices, part-time deployment of advisers and maximum flexibility in team size (including, wherever desirable, single-adviser deployment) and shape (including, wherever practical, joint working with client teams).
- We believe that these principles will allow us to deliver a step change in the effectiveness of advice – as measured by the performance and capability of organisations with which we work and the satisfaction of the individual clients who use us – in the spaces in which we operate, thereby raising the bar for the rest of the consulting and advisory industry.
